Nigeria, the great country of football-lovers, was yesterday ousted from the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship by their Ghanaian counterparts on a 3-2 aggregate score after their match at the U.J. Esuene stadium in Calabar ended on a goalless draw 0-0.


Meanwhile, Tanzania qualified for their first major tournament in 28 years with victory over Sudan in the second leg of their final qualifying round game.

A 2-1 away win on Saturday in the competition where teams may field only locally-based players put Tanzania through 5-2 on aggregate.

Senegal beat Guinea 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out after Alpha Oumar Sow's goal gave them a 1-0 home win in Dakar, and making it 1-1 on aggregate.
