As Coach Amodu Shaibu prepares for the final phase of the World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifiers which resumes next year, he is no longer planning to invite any new player to the Super Eagles team.
Instead he plans to use the African friendly matches lined up for the team next year to build up the crop of players he has tried out recently into a formidable unit.
Super Eagles' Coordinator, Emmanuel Attah, whose comments were monitored on a local radio FM station programme, believes that coach Amodu has no justification to try out new players since he is looking at blending those already at his disposal into a formidable team.
"The coach is now focused on preparing for the World Cup qualifiers. We have his team on ground and they have already taken shape," he was noted to have said.
He also believes that the two-legged friendly, planned for early next year against Ghana, was the best thing for the Eagles.
Already, coach Amodu is looking for a serene site to camp his team when the qualifiers begin next year.
Nigeria is drawn in the same group with Tunisia, Kenya and Mozambique in the race for the 2010 World Cup.
An official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was noted to have said that the NFF was looking for a suitable camp, devoid of the distractions of Abuja life, to ensure that the Eagles were not distracted when they return for the qualifiers.
The NFF staff, who pleaded anonymity, said the body viewed the Tunisian challenge as a serious threat to Nigeria's ambition of being at the World Cup, and, therefore, was determined to ensure that the Super Eagles went into every of its game mentally and physically prepared to win.
"Tunisia is a country that has been in all the last four World Cup finals and playing against them for the lone ticket in our group will not be an easy task. But we are assured by the fact that we have the players to beat them home and away. That is why we want to be ready for them and the other countries in our group", he said.
"Kenya's football is on the upward trend and Mozambique is a team you cannot write off. It is just like Angola and we know what complacency can cost us," he added.
