Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has said the soaring of Nigeria on the latest FIFA rankings has shown that the Super Eagles are on course to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Nigeria in the latest ranking released by the World football governing body climbed 10 places up to be ranked 50th in the world following their 3-1 rout of the Fennecs of Algeria in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, a performance that sees them top of group B with six points.
Imama, who is also coach of the NPFL champions Rangers International of Enugu notes that the ranking is a true reflection of the team’s recent winning run.
“We are happy we have moved up in FIFA ranking, it is good for the country. It is a clear picture of the three straight wins we have achieved recently,” Imama told Afrianfootball.com.
